Are we depressed yet? It is difficult to stay positive with all the political shuffling, economic turmoil, h1n1, busted governments, health-care issues, layoffs, downsizing, re-sizing, bankruptcies, foreclosures, furloughs, and people flaming other people. It’s a wonder that God hasn’t decided to shake the board, wipe the etch-a-sketch clean and start over. But lucky for us, we have a God that is bigger than the biggest bail-out. He holds the key. In fact He holds all the keys and we just need to grab hold and not let go. His keys, His grace, His faith in us will spill into our hearts and allow us to SEE what we need to do to get out of this mess. We can’t do it by letting others fix it for us. We need to let God work through us and to use us to get the job done. If we don’t, our natural inclination – do nothing and wait it out – will have us spiraling down into a mire of further discontent and government controlled lives.

We, at the individual, corporate, and government levels, need to be accountable for our mistakes, take on the natural consequences of our actions, and start again. This time with a little less greed and a little more (much more) compassion and generosity for others.

It is never to late to turnaround, shake it up, and start again!

Yes… be Christ to the masses! This is definitly the time of year for high stress, too much focus on “stuff” and not enough reflection on the why… and maybe the how of what we need to be as Christians. I’m just as guilty so I’ll be working on this as well.

It’s not easy to put behind our selfish thoughts and desires to want more… of just about anything. But for sure, this current “Grinch” of an economy really makes you appreciate what we do have. So how can we be more “Christ” like during this time of year as we celebrate the reason? Your comments welcome please…

One suggestion is to take on an attitude of “The Advocate”. Be that “spirit” for someone else. Help lift their day. Try to find a way to bring joy to “one”, to a family, your neighbor, or to the world. Be an advocate for someone in need. Or a group of someones! Oh, and by the way, this probably should be throughout the year and not just at Christmas.

God Bless us Everyone!

As I think about all the struggles that businesses, both big and small, are going through during these challenging economic times, I’m reminded of the story “Pushing the Boulder“. What is this preparing us for? Where do we go from here? Do we have the strength to keep pushing and… is that what we are suppose to be doing? Much of life seems be facing various challenges and how we react to those challenges. Births, deaths, illness, financial difficulties, and the challenges of the joys in life as well. Do we react well to our joys?! Do we give thanks to the one who has provided us sooo much! Both challenges and joys build strength and character and teach us to find the higher road and keep our heads when everyone else is in panic mode or too immersed to the situation.

We all will get through this… but it might not look like we expected when we get to the other side. But whatever lies ahead, it will be better, or make us better for the experience.

Just a few musings this Friday morning that I thought I’d pass along.

God’s Peace
Franc

PS: Happy Birthday to my most awesome wife! Love you Sheri xoxoxo
